What is Reiki?

Our bodies are wondrously made, complex systems of bones, muscles, blood, nerves...and energy.  The human energy system has long been ignored by Western medicine, yet it has been studied for centuries in the East, and used with remarkable success in many systems of healing such as acupuncture, homeopathic, shiatsu and aruvedic medicine. This bodily system of energy is called Chi in China.  American scientists refer to it increasingly as the bioelectric cellular energy field, and in Japan it is known as Ki.

Reiki is a combination of two Japanese words: Rei-which means "from a spiritual source"and Ki, the energy field.  Reiki is the gentle healing art of addressing our energy system through connection with God, and facilitating God's healing light through our bodies. 

What is it like to receive Reiki?

Reiki does not promise a miracle.  It is not a dramatic show.  Its intent is simply to give whatever comfort and healing is possible within a safe, loving environment.  Clients experience a wide variety of benefits, such as deep relaxation, pain relief, clarity of thought, spiritual renewal, and detoxification.

During a Reiki session patients relax, fully clothed, while the Reiki Master places her hands on or above the body near energy centers called chakras. A session usually goes for an hour and includes times of prayer, discussion, receiving energy and discernment.  Effects of Reiki continue for three days and the patient can experience an enhanced dream life, a sense of peacefulness and well-being as well as an increase in vitality.

She is a Reiki Master/Teacher Level IV

International Experience: She has lived and worked in Japan, Wales, and Canada and has ties with the Reiki communities there.  She has trained Reiki students from Lebanon, Italy and India.
